This module will introduce learners to the concepts of climate change, its causes, impacts and appropriate adaptation and mitigation strategies. It will cover the core debates that address myths peddled by climate change denialists and anti-environmentalism, as well as evolutions and distinctions between climate action and climate justice.

- Session 1This session is focused on building a context on the forces that have shaped agriculture over time and the implications of these forces, while examining the ramifications of these forces in the current dispensation. In addition to these, the session will examine the role of geopolitics in shaping our agricultural policy and practice considering dimensions of global trade, market restrictions, and interests of powerful industrialized countries1
- Session 2This session examines the vulnerability of agriculture and the food sectors to the impacts of climate change. It also looks at the scale of these impacts, especially among small-scale producers and communities at the frontline of the climate crisis.1
- Session 3This session interrogates existing commitment to financing the agriculture sector in Africa, including CAADP, and the progress made so far. It delves deeper to examine progress in securing climate funding for the sector within the existing funding mechanism, opportunities, and gaps and explores what more should be done to secure adequate funding for building resilience in this sector.1

- Session 5This session will look at different approaches to building resilience and addressing climate and environmental challenges in the agricultural sector that policy makers can choose from. This includes approaches such as climate smart Agriculture, sustainable agriculture, intensive agriculture, integrated agriculture, agroecology, Agroforestry etc3
