- Session 1This session establishes the interlinkages between energy use and the climate crisis. It explores ways in which reforms in the energy sector (energy transition) are central to addressing the climate crisis. It also looks at the challenges and opportunities that the energy transition poses to economies and communities in Africa and the global south.1
- Session 2This session will explore the current state of energy access in Africa and its consequences on human development and nature such as poverty, healthcare, nature conservation etc. It proposes policy directions for expanding energy access while safeguarding nature and achieving climate justice.1
- Session 3This module will provide an overview of the concepts of just transition, including its definitions, importance, and relevance to Africa. It will provide an African lens through which policy makers, advocates and other practitioners can take on just transition issues and debates.1
- Session 4This session will explore the basic principles and elements of energy policy and governance and their influence on the energy transition process; examine the existing energy policies and regulations at national, regional, and international levels and their implications for just transition and energy access in Africa; discuss the challenges and opportunities for enhancing energy policy coherence, coordination, participation, transparency, accountability, and justice1
- Session 5This module will focus on the importance of engaging with stakeholders in the just transition process, including communities, workers, and policymakers.3
